How does the shopping card trick work?  Visit the store's website.  Set up an online account.  Place an item or items in your "shopping cart" and proceed to check out.  If you are offered a pre-approval, it will pop-up or be embedded in the website.  You can accept your offer.  If you want to proceed with your order, finalize check-out.  You can cancel your order if you choose, and you will still receive your card.  This is a way to get a new account at the store you choose without using an inquiry on your credit report.

    Spiegel also defaults to Amazon for orders now...appears to no longer have their own accounts. Too bad...I had Spiegel years ago....not anything like it used to be. :(

    Venus is Comenity... but I have not been able to get a pop-up. I was able to get Bill-me-Later (now Paypal Credit) with a $824 limit by linking with my Paypal.

    If i already have a victoria secret credit card with a credit limit of 650 will i get approved for a venus credit card?

      I just tried it and I got the pop-up. Did not state the approval amount. Make sure your address matches exactly. Good luck!

      I didnt even see the pop up for pre approval i just filled it out the reg application and got the 7 to 10 business day they will tell if im approved or not so i guess that's a no but i don't see why i wouldn't get approved i have a victoria secret credit card with a 650 limit and have had it for 9 months and have never been late on any payments

      I have tried many times and it just is not coming up. I have VS, Bill me later and a few other Comenity cards some I got before I knew shopping cart trick. I have put my address exactly the same as it is for VS and nothing.

      I created an account and put a hoodie in my cart. I would say to just keep trying every now and then. I kept trying for Overstock and it finally worked after a couple months :)

    I finally got the pop up for Victoria secret without even trying! I was actually shopping when the pre approval popped up! About time!

    Thank You, I got a Victoria Secret Card, Express and Torrid but they didn't automatically approve me for Buckles.... BOOOOOO!! JOKING TY
